A Year of Change: How 2024 Reshaped Our Life and Business
2025 is all about growth and expansion.
In 2024, my husband and I moved to a new city. After experiencing a miscarriage and closing down a business — we needed a change.
In the spring of 2023, we quietly started planning our move from the small town I grew up in. By January 1 2024, we had moved.
Our advertising agency of 6 years was thriving, and with a dialed-in team (the same incredible crew still killing it with us today), we had the space to focus on our personal lives and make the leap.
We moved from the small mountain town of about 25,000 people to a small city on Vancouver Island with a population of 96,000+.
We craved a lifestyle shift, a change in scenery, and a fresh perspective. And, as you can imagine with growing up in a small town — I needed to set some healthy boundaries, and this move gave me that opportunity.
Victoria has been good to us—better than we even imagined. Being incognito in a new city gave us time to be alone together and reset.
In this new environment, our lifestyle changed…
We started living a cleaner lifestyle, shopped at local markets, and I fell in love with meal prepping. Sundays are now for planning and prepping meals, a habit that’s changed the way we eat and feel.
I chopped my hair in the spring, and then again even shorter in the fall and went back to my natural colour after over 10 years being blonde. This felt freeing for my own personal style!
We joined a run club and ran our first race at the Royal Victoria Marathon.
I expanded my network and friendships through a women’s business community that’s brought some cool opportunities. And, I joined Toastmasters, to support a goal the goal of launching this personal brand!
→ But it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows.
The move was hard. We miss our friends and the community we left behind. There were (and still are at times) lonely moments, and plenty of times when Nate and I felt on top of each other in our tiny condo that we’ve been renting while we decide if we’re making Victoria our home base - which we are, we’ve totally fallen of love with this little bustling island city.
Navigating a chronic illness in a new city meant finding new doctors and specialists—a struggle I’m still working through. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s how to advocate for myself in the medical system. Onward we go.
→ 2024 was a year of big change.
→ 2025 is all about growth and expansion.
After a year of change and reflection, our goals for the next bit are all about how we continue to grow, develop and expand beyond what we’ve already created in a more balanced and self-aware state than we have in the past.
I’m really glad you’re here to follow along on this growth, expansion and self-discovery journey I’m on. My goal with sharing it purely to build community in hopes it inspires and build others up.
