Where Does Confidence Come From?
I’ve come to realize that confidence doesn’t just show up one day - it’s something we build over time through everything we go through.
As the saying goes, “we grow through what we go through.”
Every experience, whether it's a win, a loss, a pivot, or a moment of adapting, adds another layer to who we are. Life and business are full of twists we don’t expect. But when things don’t go as planned, we adjust, we learn, and we grow stronger.
We learn how to face challenges head-on.
We learn from what worked and what didn’t.
We learn through how we treat others, and how others treat us.
We learn how to lead ourselves through uncertainty, rejection, risk, and reinvention.
And through it all, we start to see just how capable we really are.
We realize we can solve problems, bounce back after setbacks, build community, and find new paths forward. We learn that we’re resilient in ways we never imagined, and that confidence isn’t about always knowing the answer. It’s about trusting that we’ll figure it out.
But here’s the thing: our confidence doesn’t actually rise unless we take a moment to reflect.
It’s in the pause… taking the time to actually stop and acknowledge just how far we’ve come, this is where we truly start to see and realize our growth.
When we give ourselves credit for what we’ve endured, overcome, and created, we start to embody the confidence we’ve earned.
I’m going to guess that you’re reading this and relating to it because you’ve likely already navigated more than you give yourself credit for. And that right there… that’s proof you’ve got what it takes to keep going.
